SEASON 2009 Dave Marshall in his first year of captaincy certainly had a baptism of fire.The first three months gave him totally unexpected and unusual problems. He dealt with them in a very fair way and the Mens section went on to acheive their best ever playing results. Next season we are playing with the 'Big Boys' so lets enjoy the season and do well enough to stay in the Premier One. I think all the men would like to thank the Ladies for all their support not only with the grub but also as noisy supporters. Congratulations to Shirley in her past year as President of Somerset Ladies. The ongoing and increasing use of our Green for latter stages of both Mens and Ladies County Competitions is not only good publicity but does give local people the chance too see the game is not quite 'old mans marbles'. Finally lets not forget our Greenkeeper Norman and his '' assistant'' Chris who spend countless hours preparing the Green so that we can criticise it as the reason for our poor bowling. We should never forget that our first opponent is the grass. David having agreed to be Mens Captain again obviously thinks things can only get better in the season ahead lets prove he's right. We are a very much a Mens and Ladies Club and welcome anyone to come along and try their luck just have some flat soled shoes Bowls will be provided. Dont be worried about looking foolish all of us members are still practising to get it right.
