Hook in Bloom - East Riding of Yorkshire

 Who would have thought that an innocent cup of coffee would lead to a bunch of diverse but like minded people to start Hook in Bloom? 

Hook in Bloom goes from strength to strength, we are well known in the village and it is so refreshing to see people going that extra mile to make their gardens, window boxes or planters look spectacular.  We won a  SILVER GILT 2011  Silver award 2010 & 2009 from the Yorkshire in Bloom Competition.

It has been a huge learning curve for us all in not only establishing what we want to do and achieve in the village, but also how to encourage more villagers to volunteer? 

We are a totally not for profit organisation and the keystone is still to provide a sustainable legacy to all the children of Hook to live in a safe and an environmentally friendly village.

We work closely with Hook Primary School and hopefully, please excuse the pun but if we can sew the seed to these youngsters about pride and taking care of their village in that they will learn to fully understand the need for ensuring that we and they continue to provide sustainable areas for the fauna, flora, wildlife habitats for the village. 

We are always looking not only for volunteers but people who can. The list is not exhaustive.  If you want to get involved, if only for two hours a year, please get in touch.

We are also looking for new locations for  barrels around Hook village 15 have been sited, stained and planted up over the last 12 months and more will be sited this summer so if anyone can suggest anywhere and if they are willing to water it for us even better!  We'll provide barrel, compost and seasonal bedding plants!
