About Southwick Players

The Southwick Players are one of the oldest and most respected amateur theatre companies on the south coast. Established in 1935 (first production in 1936) we have a long history of producing quality plays and musicals that have had our audiences returning year on year.

We are an award winning company and have achieved a great deal of success in recent years at the Brighton & Hove Arts Council Drama Awards. Long standing supporters of this annual event we are very proud to be the first company to achieve 'Best Overall Production' three times in a row. We also hold the record for the largest number of wins in a single year with an unequalled six categories being awarded to our production of ‘Teechers’ in 2004.

The Players are committed to producing five productions a year at the fabulous Barn Theatre in Southwick. We are fortunate enough to have our own large workshop near the theatre and an extensive wardrobe and props store. We also have an established youth group S.P.Y. (Southwick Players Youth) which has introduced many youngsters to the stage for the very first time.

As a company we are always looking for new members who can further enhance our reputation and continuing success. We are constantly searching for new acting talent from the ages of ten to eighty, whilst also looking out for talented set designers, directors, costume designers, carpenters, artists and technicians such as sound and lighting engineers.

If you have a talent for anything theatrical or creative we would like to hear from you. With a vibrant social calendar and a friendly and welcoming membership of all ages, The Southwick Players have something for everyone!
