A competitive badminton club playing on Fridays using feather shuttles on 3 courts. Intermediate standard and above welcomed. Social events and coaching available. First 3 visits at £5, then decide on membership, which if played most weeks, comes out as very reasonable.

No Strings Badminton. One of our coaches runs a session in Kidlington, Thursdays, 6:30pm.

Members represent the Club in each of the following:
In the 2009/10 season the results were:
Banbury Town Mens A, &; B (competing against each other this season!) in Div 1. Finished second and last.
Composite (3 men, 3 ladies) in Div 1, finished second.

Oxford and District Mens in Div 4, finished mid-table.
5 Disciplines (newly promoted) in Div 1, finished last.

Being part of a team involves paying £4 a match, sometimes a 6:30pm departure for away matches, and often a pub visit at the end! So time and commitment is needed, but with more members (especially ladies) we can share the load (and win games)!!

Close of season 07/08: we finished 4th out of 7 in the Composite Div 1, were runners up in the Men's Banbury Div 1 and winners of the Oxford Div 5.
Close of season 08/09:
The Composite team suffered only one defeat, but came second out of 7, behind Feathers in Division 1.
The Mens A team won Division 1 of the Banbury Town League, whereas the B team came second behind Feathers in Division 2.
The Men in the Oxford League, promoted to Division 4, came fourth out of 6.
The newly-entered 5-Disciplines team had an excellent start in this high-level league, and came second out of 7 in Division 2.

End of Season tournament 2010 - Tuesday 8th of June 2010Read More …

On 4th June the Club rounded off the season with a tournament amongst its own members. This is an annual event for the competitive Club, which has been playing league matches in Bicester and County-wide for over 30 years, with considerable success. In the tournament the rules involve a mixed doubles pair playing against all the other pairs, both with and against their main partner. There were 8 pairs and the matches went on for nearly two hours with hardly time to draw breath, but ultimately all the points for each individual were added up, with the winners being declared thus:

Ladies Winner - Lisa Turner
Ladies runner-up - Lucinda Ward
Ladies Junior winner - Hannah West
Mens Winner - George Beegoo
Mens runner-up - Jan Szandala
Mens Junior winner - Matthew Tucker

Veteran member Terry MacDonald presented the winners with sports shop gift vouchers or wine.

The next Level 1 coaching course has been arranged for the following dates:

Saturday 4th September
Sunday 19th September
Saturday 6th November

The venue is Stoke Mandeville Stadium in Aylesbury, Bucks.

The cost for this course is £195.

The next Level 2 coaching course has been arranged for the following dates:

Saturday 11th September
Sunday 12th September
Saturday 25th September
Saturday 11th November

The venue is Blessed George Napier School in Banbury, Oxon.

The cost for this course is £350.
