Leigh Gymnastics Club was based at The Marsh Gymnasium "The oldest Gymnasium in England" Our club has a fantastic history Ada Smith and Hilda Smith trained at our club and were part of the British Team in the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, this was the very fist time women were allowed to compete in the olympic gymnastics event. The Marsh Gymnasium was donated to the people of Leigh by William Edward Marsh in 1902 We are the pride of Leigh Our cheerleaders Venom Stunt & Cheer are the official cheerleaders for Leigh Centurions We compete at National level cheerleading competitions We work within our community at displays and local fundraising events Members are able to start from age 3yrs after an initial assesment Classes are organised in ability All levels are catered for £4 for gymnastics assesment. £15.00 Brirish Gymnastics membersip fee Annually £3 per class.
In 2010 Leigh Gymnastics Club were forced to move from the Marsh Gymnasium after a long battle to save the historic building, sadly the building is now boarded up.
In April 2011 Leigh Gymnastics Club moved to Westleigh High School on Westleigh Lane Leigh. Mordern facilities and a brand new start for the Club.
The United Kingdom Cheerleading Assosiation has named our club the North West centre of excellence for Cheerleading.
Our Cheerleading Team Venom Stunt & Cheer qualified at the UKCA Nationals to represent the United Kingdom in Slovenia at the Europeans and took the Gold medal Venom came fist place in the Sunshine Cup July 2011
