Based at Canteen Mill, entrance on White Platts Street, the club and its instructors over the years have helped produce many fine judo players of all ages and abilities. The club started on the 27 July 1987 at the St Johns Ambulance Hall and when the doors opened for the first time over 100 people turned up. Sean Nuttall opened the club up after moving to Todmorden as he saw a demand for something to do other than the traditional sports. He said: “Judo is the gentle art of self defence, and requires you to use your opponent’s balance and weight against them. Over the last four years founder and senior instructor Sean has been selected three times to compete for Great Britain. Judo has several kata, mostly created in the late 19th century by Kano Jigoro, the founder of judo. The judo kata involves two participants and preserves a number of techniques that are not permitted in competition or in randori, including punches, kicks, and the use of the katana and other weapons.

We have moved to canteen mill in todmorden the entrance is on white platts street OL14 5HG. We open on saturday 5 november at 10.00 until 12.00 for juniors and 12.00 13.30 for seniors all mat fees will be £5.00… (more)

Went to new club for first time yesterday. Westland Judo Club, Yeovil. Very friendly. Realy good to be back on the mat again but not Tod!!! They still have "Shogun" mats!!!!! F*****G heavy!!!!
On the good side.......I was on the mat or 5mins before I was given a group to teach. Think I'm going to enjoy it.
